During our April Town Hall we had a great question from Rudi at Praekelt.org on how the follow up timer that is based on local time handle timezones within a large country. We did not have enough time on the call to answer it all, and thought it will be useful to share the answer with the broader community too.
Answer:
The timezone database we have (which we use for mapping numbers to timezones) does accommodate some of timezones. For example: +7421....
maps to Asia/Vladivostok
whereas +747
through +749
map to Europe/Moscow.
And each of these have their own timezone.
